CiCi’s All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet-buzzkilling researchers at Trinity College Dublin have discovered both an interesting and depressing quirk about a particular fat-fighting type of cell in the body.
Their potency to regulate obesity goes down the fatter you get.
Oh; And then it just quits.
It turns out these cells, called INKTs, help keep most people from getting obese.
But there comes a tipping-point, where they just seem to stop. It’s possible the chemical output of fat cells just becomes too great for them to manage, and their efficacy then approaches zero.
