Birth Month & Disease Risk. Your Horoscope = Your Health?:
As much as we’d like to think so, Science is not new.
Mankind has been trying to solve problems using their best guess since the beginning of time.
Sometimes that involved explanations using natural phenomena, like the stars.
And although people haven’t put much stock in Astrology since the Tarot-card-reading days of the 1600s,
A new take on this old system may prove the prior wisdom correct, in surprising ways…
Ancient Man Wasn’t So Stupid After-All:
So whenever ancient man noticed a pattern, in order to understand it or solve a problem,
He came up with an explanation.
Whether that was Bloodletting, The 4 Humors, too many ghosts in your skull, or gods fighting in the sky causing thunder,
They tried to map what they couldn’t understand onto something they could at-least observe.
And the short-answer for the current research is: Circadian-rhythms turn out to govern a lot more than just your 24-hour sleep/wake cycle.
They don’t even operate over just the course of 1 individual day. And because they keep working differently, each month, over the course of a year,
Including the month of the year you were born,
They have big implications about what your eventual health-problems will be, to the tune of dozens.

The Circadian Clock Runs For 365 Days, Not Just 24 Hours:
As mentioned-before, most of us think that our Circadian-Clock, or “Body Clock” is just something that runs Sleep & Wake.
It’s easy to look at it for just 1 day.
But researchers digging into things like chronic sleep debt and Chrono-Biology are finding weirder stuff the longer they look.
And that list includes all kinds of health-problems that seem almost-exclusively tied to disconnects between your lifestyle and that clock.
For example, people who work weird hours like the night-shift and end-up with weird health-problems as a result.
Especially the ones on this list:
1) Metabolism Disruption
2) Mood Disorders
3) Obesity
4) Inflammation-Related Disease
5) Memory Problems
6) Immune Deficiency & Complication
As the field of study evolves, it’s looking like there will be a lot more problems added to that short list.
And as we hinted before, weirdest-yet is that just like Astrology, those health-problems seem to spell themselves out across the entire year, based on the month of your birth.
Yes, the Horoscope was right; you really are having a 3/10 day.

We Are All Little Sun-Dials:
And just like the seasonal patterns of anything you could imagine,
Like traditional harvest-time or animal mating-schedules in the northern or southern hemispheres,
The cycle of seasons & sunlight-changes actually do influence when, or even If they could occur in your life.
Even climate, temperature, & social-factors may factor-in, too.
For example: People born in the Fall even tend to just live longer than others by at-least 6 months.
This also includes a seasonal pattern for all of the major causes of death, too!
Heart-disease, Cancer, you name it.
The patterns for many of these are so consistent, they can’t just be brushed-away as Lying Through Statistics.
Everything Is Circadian, But The Moon Doesn’t Count:
As a sad aside for all the werewolves out there, there is no evidence that Lunar Cycles have any affect on the afflictions historically associated with its changes.
The only thing that makes sense is a scenario similar to the Blue Light & Anxiety post,
Where sleep-deprivation by exposure to light late in the day can have psychological effects, including Anxiety, Social Isolation, Depression, and in vulnerable people, Mania.
This could have been the case back in the days when there were almost no artificial light-sources, and the full moon really did light things up.
Maybe that’s where the term, “Lunatic” originated after-all.
Here’s The Chart Of Increased-Disease By Birth Month:
So Then We’re All Doomed By Our Astrology, Right?:
So given the above chart of birth-month doom, the most solace we can find is that people in the hot-zones for these diseases are Not Guaranteed to get them.
They just have a higher-probability of getting them. It’s not “Fate”.
One of the best temporary solutions might be identifying if your DNA has the Night Owl or Early Bird genes and trying to stick to that schedule so you throw your clock off as little as possible.
As stated before, there might be some early-evidence for this idea in the odd increase of health-problems for ultra-late-shift workers.
On the academic front, some schools are already adjusting their hours to match the body-clocks of their students with fantastic results on tests and grades.
And until Science finds a magic pill, how about helping your body-clock all you can?
Because Daily Naps are also nothing short of Magic, according to sleep-expert Sara Mednick.
But Science Is Still Behind The Times:
So obviously Science has invented neither a birth-month circadian-cure, nor a time-machine yet,
Despite the complications and embarrassment of going backwards a few decades and chatting with your parents about sex and Zodiac-appropriate horniness.
But what you Can do is to start looking out for both positive-changes you can make for your health now,
So that you stay as healthy as-possible and steer-clear of the congenital weaknesses in your own “Astrology”.
And also be on the lookout for the newest, best cures or solutions to these diseases so you’ll be better prepared in an unfortunate event.
Because, if a molecular-clock in you is set so early based on the sunlight and (possibly) vitamins your mom got,
The science required to modify that clock would be nothing short of heroic.
But either way, it is still amazing to see that even though your psychology, daily-schedule & even your Fate may not be up to fortune-cookie manufacturers,
So even though it was called Astrology, they were technically “right” about your birth month being tied to your future; so maybe Ancient Man was pretty smart after-all!
