Newsflash:The first ever explosion at an MRI Lie Detector facility has just occurred.
It seems Bill Clinton has just staggered out of the wreckage with a few pieces of the ‘donut’ stuck to his head like a giant sombrero; however his hairdo looks in fine shape.
The first ever MRI Lie Detector on a politician looks like a complete success!
They just need to completely rebuild the facility and recalibrate. More fireworks to follow.
In an effort to expand the uses of existing MRI technology, scientists are beginning to separate liars from those speaking the truth using the machines paired with cognitive analysis. -And the first of the specialized units are about to go into production.
Polygraphs are flaky and rely on examiners and interpretation. Though they are used to interrogate spies and as entry exams for government jobs, their results have been routinely thrown out in courts as ‘junk science’.
The new MRI lie detector tech aims to end all that ambiguity.
It does this by scanning directly what is going on inside the brain during both truthsaying and lying. Scientists like Scott Faro, Daniel Langleben and Frank Andrew Kozel have conducted tests that show very clear physical differences between the two cognition modes.
A minimum of 4 areas light up like Christmas trees when someone is fabricating, as neurological overhead increases and the brain works harder to suppress truth & create, rather than straight access of stored memory and reporting the answer.
These areas include: the amygdala, rostral cingulate, caudate, hippocampus and thalamus.
Two companies are currently developing the machines to sell to their first clients: government and law enforcement.
Although legal consent, deception type/degree, consistency across psychological, chemical, and developmental brain conditions and other issues have yet to be tested, the results seem so clear that a pervasive “No Lie MRI” may already be an eventuality.
Yes, Crime is bad; but Some Lying is great! It’s like TS Eliot’s poetry, for pete’s sake! -For all the 1,001, WD-40-like uses of a lie, it will be a sad day to see it go.
-The way it smooths out social situations and convinces girlfriends their ‘jeans’ look good, may soon be over.
With the Gattaca-like precision of an MRI lie-detector, soon not even a George Costanza/Keyser Söze hybrid will be able to get that girl out of Old Navy in a 1/2 hr. with a smile on her face.
