No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. -Or Dessert:
In the war on Fat, science has spent decades on an antidote to one main offender.

-Sugar.

Because it’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s all the stuff that ruins your blood-sugar & insulin.

And one thing all phony-sugars had in-common, is that they were a bit iffy on what exactly their compounds did once inside your body.

Now we can add a possible link to stroke & dementia to their resume, but previous research may explain why…

Video: The Facts Crew Tries Meat Subsitutes, Saves Planet Earth From Death By Cow-Farts

Saving The Planet 1 Video At A Time. Maybe:
So, an increasting percentage of our dietary choices are made for health reasons.

And in a few new edge-cases, also for the chance to help more than just yourself, by reducing the environmental impacts of some farming.

This is the angle taken most recently by Impossible Foods.

But who cares about that? As-usual, the Facts crew is here to give you a fairly-normal [Irish] person’s perspective and tell you how it really is!…

As Stupid As Nascar Cartman:
Every once in awhile, a health news story comes out that is truly inspirational.

Not since Eric Cartman drinking Vagisil in his bid to qualify as a Nascar driver, has something so majestic gone public.

And though in the small “Fail-Army” part of HT there is probably none that will exceed the caution against mixing grenades & sledgehammers.

-Which to be fair, for the rational-minded among you is pretty much the same equation as career blackmail+ impossible sales goals…

Another Win For Veggie Fans!:
So in the eternal war of Vegetarians vs. Carnivores, !SCIENCE! has to concede one new point.

As time goes by our bodies seem to get worse, mostly due to unfair biochemical changes like reduced metabolism, lean mass, and just plain old energy.

Well, researchers are coming again to the rescue, with what looks like another cure to several of them.

And it all hinges on that nagging your good ole’ mum leveled at the dinnertime kids: Eat Your Greens!…

Not All Substitutes Are Equal:
All cheekiness aside, we just did a post on the sexy people over at Eater’s test of the newest vegetable-only burger, by Impossible Foods.

But one of the ideas we raised at the end was: Maybe it tastes close now, maybe even identical in the future,

-But does it give you the same-or-better Nutrition when you take everything into consideration?

Well, one of Red Meat’s components is a salt called Creatine. And sciency-researchers are finding out some very interesting brain-stuff about its new best friend…

Video: Eater Tries The Impossible Burger, Here To Save Planet Earth And One Day, Your Taste Buds

Can Food Save Planet Earth?:
In this video, Eater’s Kat Odell and Nick Solares introduce us to another salvo in the war to make a better burger with its inventor, Dr. Pat Brown.

This particular version has taken over 5 years to research and launch.

And thanks to some increasingly-fancy food chemistry, Impossible Foods might be getting us a step closer to a more earth-friendly, healthier future.

And while people should have the luxury to eat what they want, and a burger won’t save the planet, every little bit helps…

Übertool Comics Discovers The Source Behind Each Year’s Mystifying New Fad Health-Foods
ubertool comic 150 the wise old food man of the mountains tells us what random thing to eat this year

It IS A New Thing Every Year, Isn’t It?:
As we’ve already seen from our friend/arch-enemy/frenemy, Jim Gaffigan, some people just can’t get on the Kale bandwagon.

On the other hand, many people seem to run their health-programs based only on what’s new for the year.

-As Übertool describes here…

The WHO Says Red Meat Is Not Murder, -It’s Suicide. 39 Things To Consider
archer annoys lana in green dress with danger zone quote

-Well maybe not quite that dire, but close; read on.

So the WHO recently put out this extremely cautionary report on red meat.

It says that essentially All of it, especially the smoked & salted stuff we seem to instinctively-love is dangerous to your health,

And either Will or May cause colorectal, and possibly stomach, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.

This is almost exactly the same thing Harvard Medical School put out a few years ago, with very similar conclusions. So to that end, here are a few things to think about:…
